32 sleeps to lift-off!!!

Another quiet day stitching and pottering around.
The plumber came and finished off his job on the garage and the "gravel man" came to give me a quote for gravel for the drive, so my car won't have to step up to drive into the garage. He's coming back Wednesday...more money!!
Also rang Ballarat Council to get the building surveyor to come and do a final check on the garage. Don't know when he's coming...they didn't ring back like they said they would! Perhaps tomorrow!?!?!?
So to the photo I promised...her name is Daffodil and I finished her earlier this year. Pattern from http://www.pedigreesroyal.com
See you tomorrow!

33 sleeps to lift-off!!

Another quiet day. Stitched this morning and slept this afternoon. Thought I might take off an extra sleep but it didn't work...just added one! :(
I'll find something else to photograph tomorrow so you don't get bored with just my nothing days!
Nite all!

34 sleeps to lift-off!!

Another day at home!
The plumber arrived and worked all day but hasn't finished so he'll be back next week. He has connected the tank and changed some taps. A tap that has dripped for 18 years no matter what was done to it has now stopped dripping!!!! He just has to connect the drainage from the garage to the stormwater and it is done. Yippeee!!!!
Apart from having them around all day, I did some more sorting and stitching, and went to the library and then to visit Mum.

35 sleeps to lift-off!!!!

Well, a nothing day today but I needed the break. Just stitched and played around with the puter.
Plumber cancelled but says he is coming tomorrow...we'll see.
Off to eliminate one sleep. Nite all!!

36 sleeps to lift-off!!!

Firstly here's the photo of the jewellery box. Its not too clear, but the box is only ¾inch long!
Another early morning today. Collected Liz and we drove 100kms to Resmed where I handed over buckets of money for a CPAP. On the way we drove past one of my grandmothers previous homes, so I stopped and took a photo for the family tree...on my new phone! She lived in the left side of the house. I still remember the wonderful huge bed with the feather mattress that I used to sink into at night when I stayed. Loved that bed. Wonder whatever happened to it???? Then off to the Credit Union to get some Travellers cheques, or so I thought! They made a mistake and wanted me to come back another day. I told them it was way too far so they are actually delivering them to my home tomorrow! How's that for service!!!
From there we drove to Crown Casino and parked in their car park for free. Had a free lunch then put a bit in the pokies so that I could park again for free next time. :) I came out $50 ahead.
We then crossed the road and went to the Quilt and Craft Show. Lots of stalls of fabric, crossstitch, beading, papercraft and some wonderful quilts. Wished I'd had more time to see them all! Spent just a little money :)
Then back to the Casino and a few more dollars in the machines...came out up $100 this time!! This was a very unusual day!
I had been eyeing off a small case for my cabin luggage, so on the way home we dropped in to get it. It had gone :( But good news, she produced one that was $100 cheaper and probably better, so I succumbed. Hence I came home with empty pockets but ready to pack! Getting really excited now!..36 sleeps is too long!

37 sleeps to lift-off!!

Well today was another trip to Ballarat. This time Tilley came too.
We got up fairly early and I took lots of photos of Tilley...still playing with the camera! Before we left I took this one of Tilley outside the new garage. Can you see her LOL.
Then it was off to the supermarket to get some lunch, the hardware store to get some hooks for the garage curtain, and the Council to get a mailing address for the owner of the house next door. As you can see in the photo, the fence is on a lean and almost touching the garage. There is a very vigorous creeper growing on it!! Needs to be fixed before the garage is damaged. Anyway filled out the forms and have to wait for an address!
After that it was on to Ballarat. By now we were running late, so it was straight up to the Dollhouse Group. We made a tiny little jewel box complete with a crystal hanging from a gold chain necklace.
I forgot to take a photo of it. I will tomorrow, but for now here is one of two of the girls busy "working"!
After that it was off to Bunnings to get some floor tiles for the dollhouse, then the electrical store, and then back to the travel agent. Sandie had already left so I have to try and catch her Friday as tomorrow I will be leaving home even earlier and home much later, but I'll tell you about that then!

To finish off here is another picture of Tilley taken this morning. You'll all probably be sick of me talking about her by the time I leave! But she is cute!

38 sleeps to lift-off!!!

Today has been a busier day!
Got up early , took Tilley for a "short" walk and then off to collect Liz and on to Ballarat.
First a stop at our LNS, Sovereign Needlecraft. Liz got her fabric while I drooled over the new DMC threads that had just arrived. Then to the bead shop where I bought some beads for insects. More about them much much later, maybe at Hershey ;)From there we went on to Embroiderers Guild for our patchwork day. As it was our Christmas in July we had a show and tell of some great Christmas pieces and some of the Sashiko bags that were finished off from last month. Didn't have my camera so couldn't take any photos this time.
After a wonderful shared lunch, we talked and stitched a little more then Liz and I left early.
On to Stockland Shopping Centre where I collected my new phone!! Now I have a camera!!
On to Acupuncture and massage and then to the travel agent where I took my first photo with my phone! Meet Sandie!! My plans from LA to Ottawa are almost finalised! I now have all my travel times and once they are confirmed I'll let you all know where and when :)
After that it was home to play with the phone, on the Net and soon to bed!
Nite all!

Continued sewing things for the trip!

40 sleeps to Lift-off!!!

An early morning this morning and a trip to the Embroiderers Guild in Melbourne for the counted thread group. Not much stitching done but a lot of talking!!
On the way home we went "shopping" and I ordered a bench/cupboard/drawer complex to go in my new garage! Also bought a new handbag for the trip!
While we were in the shopping centre the heavens opened and the rest of the trip home was very wet and slippery. The rain was really heavy, with hail at times and boy is it cold here now! As they say in the outback, its a five dog night tonight!

The journey is soon to begin!

41 sleeps to lift-off!!!

The beginning of my "Blog".
After encouragement from friends I start this online journal as I head towards the trip I have been waiting for for 30 years!
In 2000 I told my online stitching friends that I was going to visit them in the US in 2006. The time has come!!
I have my ticket to LA and plans are afoot for my overland travels.
The beginning of this blog will just be day to events, with sprinklings of travel plans, but come September 1, the journey begins!
I am sure Tilley is aware that something is happening!! Boy will I miss her! Hence her picture on the first page!
Today has been a lazy day, sorting fabric and machine sewing some things to take with me. Lets see what tomorrow brings?
