2 sleeps to Julie's

A slow start this morning, but once we got going....
First stop was on a very muddy back road where we snapped some Canada geese.

Next on to the Casino..

I came out ahead, so with my new stash money we headed on to Michaels and 2 LNS's.
At the second we caught up with Hazel. We all spent money!!

Then to the Red Lobster for dinner...yummmm.
Bye to Hazel and on to a short very wet trip around Winnipeg. It was too wet and dull to take photos so we headed home to stitch.
Tomorrow, I head off on the train and then bus to Ottawa. After a night with Julie, off to Montreal, by train. May not get to post until Montreal so be good everyone!
Many thanks to Georgia and John for having me!!!
Bye for now!

4 sleeps to Julies!!!!

I arrived in Winnipeg after a rather sleepness night crossing the praries in the rain and there to meet me was Georgia..arising from a circle of flames!

Actually this was at Union Station Winnipeg, when we went to change one of my train tickets. Then we went to Georgias for clean-up, rest and lunch, and of course talking!
In the afternoon we went shopping for party things, and then home to chat some more and raid each others stash!
The evening was spent stitching and b.... er chatting.

After a slow morning Beth and her DD took me to catch the Greyhound and so I set off across the praries. I saw rain and praries, and more rain and more praries and a long straight road, snoozing on the bus overnight.

1 sleep to Beths!!!!

Yesterday, I said goodbye to Victoria, Teagle and family and headed by coach and ferry to Vancouver. Smooth voyage, nice scenery. I stayed at Sandman Hotel which with the exception of long queues for the lift, was great. No internet or wireless connection in my room, but got to use their Business Centre computer for a brief time.
At 6.30 this morning I headed for the Rocky Mountaineer train, and we left Vancouver at about 7.30am. travelling very slowly initially with a long stop in rail yards on the way. Once we got out into the country the scenery was spectacular and I'm told, will be even better tomorrow. We are travelling in the 2 week period that the salmon head upstream to spawn, and hope to see them tomorrow in the shallows.
As I have to get up at 5.30 tomorrow morning I shall finish here now.
Nite all!

3 sleeps to Beths!!!!

Today we went for a drive up the island to see the old growth forest, Cathedral Grove at Macmillan Provincial Park...amazing. Trees over 8oo years old, and as wide as!
On the way up we stopped at Ladysmith Harbour to take some logging photos.
what did we see..a freshly sunken boat..a tribute to the Ocean.
On the way home we stopped to see "Goats on a Roof" at Coombs. We had a wonderful feast for our midday meal at 5pm. We highly recommend the food there!!!

5 sleeps to Beths

After a fairly uneventful trip on the Coast Starlight, except for numerous power outages, we arrived 4 hours late in Seattle. Next day, I left on the Clipper to Victoria. After getting through customs, I emerged outside and there to meet me was Juli...from Edmonton, and her DH. Shortly after Deb, her DH and 2 kids arrived. We talked for a bit, of course, and then headed off to a restaurant for dinner. After dinner and a lot more chat, we parted and headed of to Debs. After still more meet and greets we finally hit the sack.
This morning we met Juli again and hit the shops. First a patchwork, then a needlecraft, another patchwork, a bead shop and a miniature shop, then finally an icecream!! We had totally missed lunch! Oh and somewhere between I looked for shoes for Tilley. Couldn't get her size but saw some cute ones ;)
Juli and Deb are expert enablers and I spent lotsa money!!!
No more shopping in Victoria!!!!

3 sleeps to Teagle!!!!

Happy Labour Day everybuddie!!!
We saw this eagle on the way home from Pala last night and just had to get a photo. Unfortunately the pic came out very very dark, but Michele (aka Eagle) has played with it for me a bit so you can see him some. Thanks "Big Bird"!!!
Today we slept in, really slept in, so we have gone nowhere and done nothing...except pack, wash clothes and setup my laptop.
Now we're off to bed or we'll sleep in again and I'll miss the Coast Starlight in the morning. Nite all!! See you Thursday Teagle!!

4sleeps to Teagle!!!

Today Michele had to work, so off we went, me with laptop in hand.
I forgot something , so even though we were late, we headed back home. I got what I needed and we left again. There on the patio was Michele's handbag...purse, money, cards and all!!! We retrieved the bag and set off again with a huge sigh of relief.
Michele to work and me to play with my laptop and camera...here did I espy this little creature! Later to church, then off to shop....again!! I desperately needed sandals. Hadn't been able to get any yesterday. I liked Micheles, but we couldn't get any the same and she couldn't remember where she had got hers. we decided to leave it and eaded off to collect an ordered computer. As we rounded the bend, there was the shoe store. Found similar sandals and went to pay for them. 50% off.yippeee.
Couldn't get the computer, had to be reordered...at least it didn't have to sit in a hot car all day!
Our journey continues, 104° here in Southern California and we hit a blizzard!!!! Yuuuummmmmmm....
From there off to Pala...a little warmer even. On the way we stopped on Gopher Hill..."always gophers here" says Michele...."where says I?" "Hmmm..nowhere" says Michele..."No, just bees" says me!
On to Pala. A little bit of money later, me minus, Michele plus....Michele says where is it. She had lost her money ticket of $30+, so she backtracked. Couldn't find it, but came back with one for $800!!!
Next they held the restaurant open for us, and after a sumptuous "small" feast we headed home. But wait! One more dollar in the machine for Michelle...withdrawal $203..
*sigh* Some people have all the luck but I'm not really grumbling, at least one of us won this time! And so home, post and bed..nite all!!

5 sleeps to Teagles!!!!

Today we got up early as Michele had to go to work. I went for the ride, laptop and new camera in tow and played while Michele worked! Later we went shopping where I was amazed by the height of the bambo outside Target, hence the photo.
Next stop, shoe and computer shops and then off to Marie Calender's for dinner.
Outside was the climbing rose bush. Going travelling tomorrow so might not be able to post, so see you Monday maybe.
Byyeeee

I'm here!!!

The shuttle bus was 10 minutes late collecting me this yesterday morning. I knew it hadn't passed me so just waited. It finally came and we loaded the baggage and set off. An hour and half later we were at Melbourne airport.
After going through customs and a fairly tight security screening, the plane headed off just a little late to Auckland. I knew we were landing there, but not that we would be there for 3 hours!!! Got directed to a phone that had free local calls so rang Liz and talked until we were calledfor another security check and boarding.
Finally took off and arrived 15 minutes early!
Through customs here without any delays....and there to meet me was Michele...with a camera...grrrr. But it was my camera!!!!
after a very long< slow journey to Orange due to accidents ahead of us we finally arrived!
Now for a nice leisurely evening and probably an early night
